3-Gunnin' Grandma Ronnie Siegel Mark started New Jersey's only "A Girl & A Gun" Women's Shooting League chapter in her living room, and then Covid shut down every range in the state. Undeterred, Mark got a group of women together to learn the fundamentals of gun handling and safety. Last night at RTSP's Union, NJ range, about a dozen and a half women from all walks of life engaged paper targets, became EMPOWERED, and had FUN while they LEARNED the basics. Mark told us the group photo shows only half of their registered members, and they're still growing!
After the live-fire training, the women shooters league was given a classroom where Mark demonstrated proper dry-fire techniques and then conducted personalized one-on-one dry-fire lessons with each shooter based upon shooting observations in the range. Improvements in grip, stance and breathing will make an impact, build confidence and increase the FUN factor too! So far the league has four Range Officers: Ronnie, her husband John, Kim Snyder, and Linda Mitchell. Snyder and Mitchell work with the first-timers. Plans are to conduct two shoots a month so everyone gets to shoot.
The Coalition of New Jersey Firearm Owners is proud to recognize this commitment to women's shooting and hopes to interview some of these remarkable women soon. Mark took one of the league members under her wing, and the pair recently shot a static steel match in nearby Guthsville, PA. To learn more about this dynamic group, please visit:
