Police Pistol Combat (PPC) League - Old Bridge Rifle and Pistol Club
PUBLIC INVITED - 2nd FRIDAY OF EVERY MONTH -Engaging pneumatically turning timed silhouette targets isn't something that's taught at a typical handgun class, it's a form of competition named Police Pistol Combat and it's been around for decades. Old Bridge Rifle & Pistol Club holds a PPC Match once a month on the second Friday, and some Jersey gun owners that wish to carry a sidearm are getting some great practice and instruction as well as camaraderie. Many are members of the Coalition of New Jersey Firearm Owners, as are the league's co-chairmen Peter Luccarelli and CNJFO VP Dave "Rosey" Rosenthal.
Each 60-round Course-of-Fire, known as a "Relay", takes a little over 35 minutes to shoot. Starting from 7 yards, the shooters have 20 seconds (including a magazine change) to shoot 12 rounds at a B-27 silhouette. The next stage is 6 rounds in 9 seconds at 7 yards using just your dominant (strong) hand on the B-27. The third stage is 12 rounds in 30 seconds using both hands from 15 yards distance on the B-27. The fourth stage is shot from behind simulated "cover" 25 yards away onto a "reduced B-27" which is a B-34. In 2:45 each shooter (using both hands) draws FIRST then does 6 rounds sitting, 6 rounds kneeling, 6 rounds support (weak) hand with support and then 6 rounds dominant (strong) hand with support. The final stage is 6 rounds in 12 seconds using both hands from 25 yards on the full-size B-27 silhouette.
