SCOTUS survivor. Protector of the Second Amendment. Executive Director of the Heller Foundation

Meet Second Amendment Champion, Dick Heller, of District of Columbia v. Heller, 554 U.S. 570 (2008)--the most significant Second Amendment case holding by the Supreme Court of the United States in a generation. In Heller, the SCOTUS held that the Second Amendment guarantees an individual right to possess firearms, independent of any service in a state militia, and recognized the use of firearms for traditionally lawful purposes, including self-defense within the home. In the majority opinion authored by Justice Scalia, it was held “the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed,” codifies an individual right derived from English common law and codified in the English Bill of Rights (1689).

In addition to his commitment to 2nd Amendment Freedoms, Heller is actively involved in the DC Community. In 1984, he founded the “Children’s Birthright Trust Fund” – a charity that supports and raises funds for youth projects, such as computer access – and has taught classes on entrepreneurship in both DC public schools and DC housing projects.

She holds a Masters degree and has been working in the Human Resources field for 10 years. Holly is also an NRA Instructor and focuses on pro bono training for women. She has also donated her time and energy to be the CT delegate for The DC Project: Women for Gun Rights, an educational, nonpartisan group of women from all 50 states who advocate for Second Amendment education over legislation. Gun rights are women’s rights and every woman must be prepared to be their own first responder. Women gun owners make firearms safety and education a top priority.

She is the Region 2 director of DCProject – Women for Gun Rights. This group has state organizations teaching their gals how to be activists for the second amendment.   At just 5 years old – the DCProject is blazing trails. Amanda sat next to Dick Heller in the gallery while the leader of the DCP testified to Representative Nadler and the House Judiciary Committee on the 2019 Assault Weapons ban bill. You may see the testimony of Dianna Muller where she is wearing a pink dress, looking all ladylike and telling Nadler that she will not comply with his unconstitutional ban.

Amanda was an extra (who got a speaking role) in the gun show scene of Mathew McConaughey’s movie White Boy Rick.

Brooke Cheney profile picture

Brooke Cheney

Brooke didn't learn about guns until her mid 30's when her kids were born. Her husband had guns in the home, but she didn't know how to handle them safely, so she started training and got into competitive shooting. Little did she know that her journey learning about firearms would lead her into being politically active. Prior to firearms, Brooke knew nothing about politics. She knew there was an election once every 4 years for President and never voted because she didn't know anything about the candidates. As an active gun owner, she now learned that a 10 round mag ban was a ban on guns, because you can't get 10 round magazines for every gun. She joined a local 2A group, started testifying at the capitol in Hartford CT hoping to help educate our legislators. Now 10 years later, she has testified many times, has held public office, and been a part of the DC Project since 2016.

Donate to Support DC Project - NJ

Goals of The DC Project are:

(1) Give legislators an opportunity to speak with a gun rights supporter and have a contact for information or education on firearms-related topics;

(2) Encourage the preservation of America’s gun culture, from conservation and commerce to competitive sports, hunting and self-defense;

(3) Highlight the diversity of female gun owners and be a counter voice to Moms Demand Action.

The DC Project is an educational, non-partisan initiative that encourages women to establish relationships with their legislators and community members to share stories of firearms owners.
